Saturday the 27th January Well yet another wet and windy Saturday morning but we will not be put of as we could wait a long time for a dry one. And the prospect of trying out my new toy helped with the motivation so I packed the van and headed for Salen to pick Alan up and drove down to Beach. We parked the van and headed along the main road to the forest road at Beach “as we had decided to do Carsaig anti clockwise” and after a wee bit of adjustments on brake’s and shifters and a squirt of air in the shock headed up the road to the top of the cliffs at Coeness.
We had a brief glimpse of the sun as we started the 25 minute push up the track to Ghories leap. By the time we got to the top we were both showing signs of not enough time spent on a bike of recent and I couldn’t even use the excuse of drink as I have not touched a drop in 4 weeks..
The wind at the top was severe as was the shower that had started but thankfully was at our back all the way along the top of the cliffs and the ground was not as wet as we thought it would be. The journey to the main road at Carsaig went quite quickly apart from me messing about with shock settings and only 1 over the bar incident for me and splash in a burn from Alan. Joining the Carsaig road we quickly sped down to the main road and the couple of miles back to the welcome site that was the van. |
