JANUARY 2007 CLUB RUN |
|
Well the trip to "Loch Ba" did not happen. The Weather in the morning was bad I must admit, but I still was running around in my cycle gear with Eager Anticipation. Donald Phoned and sounded most dejected... "We will Just wait half an hour", he said "It's too wet... look at all the black clouds coming up from Salen..." Half an hour came and Donald announced he would not go... "NO NO", he said "I'm not going out in that to get soaked, I'm going to the garage to go on the trainer", and no amount of persuasion from Allan that it was almost dry in Salen could convince him to change his mind...
When Macinnis finally got out of bed I went over and we headed to "Salen" in search of Allan and anyone else who might have gone.
We met Allan at "Aros Bridge" and after he announced that no one had turned up we decided to Head over the hill to "Killichronan".
Allan said it might be wee bit wet and this was verified when we met the local farmer herding the cows and he was wearing Flippers!
The two "Technical Tarts" headed off leaving me struggling with the slippy stones and fast flowing cow dung ridden water.
Still was encouraging to see MacInnis fall off his bike but unfortunately not land in the water!
There were plenty of stops to take in the views and talk of all the things we where going to do in the coming year and if Donald has actually sent away his payment for the "Ten under the Ben" that himself and Allan are doing as a team (Weather permitting no doubt!)
The track down was better and muddier and we took it at an easy pace that is until a huge flash of lightning and a thunderous bang of thunder mad us peddle faster!
The rain drove us into the barn at "Killichroin" where we
where surprised to see that there was 2 Ostriches running around in a
pen at the back!!!
All in all a good day and nice to get muddy. JIM |
