Saturday - Day out Round Ardmore |
|
We have the insurance and only need the signature of the Forestry to get Digging. We had a good Turn out 5 men and 5 women… Evone MacLean, Anita Brown, Gina Keenan, Brenda Douglass and Fiona Noble. The Day was dry cold and just perfect for cycling. The women had brought a picnic and some wine and when they reached the bottom of the track after 10 minutes they decided it was a good time to crack open the bubbly and open the food! The men carried on and headed for the lighthouse and the start of the new track. Bruce Blackadder the Granddaddy of the cycling club surprised us all with his stamina. Years of epic cycling in his youth and dragging Marta about in a side car on his bike has been very beneficial in his golden years. Well done Bruce especially for tackling the downhill technical side of things. Mr Bryan Gibson Honoured us all with his presence and he enjoyed his day. Its nice to see him back to Cycling again, but still a pity about his dress sense! I was a bit surprised for a few miles at his lack of pace, he seemed to be lagging behind Bruce for a few miles… But I soon realised what was wrong... Bruce had a mirror attached to his handlebars and
the Gibbo Just could not pass it by! Wullie Blue was a surprise guest especially after his accident. He forced himself round against the pain and only the occasional moan was heard. This is indeed commitment he has broken ribs and chipped kneecap and still will not miss a cycle day out, so everyone out there should remember this when they start to complain about being sore! The track is mostly forest track but we had a go on a technical Section... Everyone managed it ok and then we heard a scream and Brenda came screaming down the hill, her legs in the air and swearing like trooper shouting at us to tell her where the brakes where. She landed softly and after she realised her Lycra had not been torn she seemed in fine form. We headed back home to find the Women quite pissed and cycling round in circles at the Ardmore crossroads, a site that should only be experienced by grown men, and not children! So will keep you informed what is happening with the track next week and hopefully more people will join us next week. Jim |
